OLD POST FARM
The Farm
Old Post Farm is located on the beautiful South Shore of Nova Scotia in Lunenburg County. The original farm, circa 1870s, at one time served as the post office for Stanley Section. We chose the name as a nod to this history.
We raise a crossbred flock of Lincoln, Romney, Finn and Texel heritage sheep focusing on fleece quality. These breeds produce a soft longwool fleece and are resilient to Nova Scotia weather in all seasons. The fleece is machine spun in PEI and brought back to our farm where it is hand dyed and prepared for sale.
Our lambs are raised on the pastures of our farm and are 100% grass-fed. Meat from grass fed lambs has lower cholesterol and less total fat with higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids.
We are a small family farm that believes in sustainable agriculture to improve soil health and increase biodiversity. In practice, we rotationally graze our sheep which enhances plant growth and recycles vital nutrients back into the soil.
